Guided Walk – Long Meg and Lacy’s Caves

19-01-16SMLThe next Guided Walk will be on Sunday 10th January, 2016 when Chris Lloyd will lead a  5.2 mile meander of around 3-3½ hours.

A gentle walk through fields and alongside the river Eden starting and ending in Little Salkeld. It is on established and well used paths but as with everywhere at the moment it will be muddy so please wear appropriate footwear and bring a picnic and a hot drink.

The walk is full of interest as we pass by one of the largest stone circles in Britain – Long Meg and her daughters. Also, the beautiful church of St Michaels and All Angels at Addingham and finally Lacy’s Caves – a series of caverns carved into the sandstone rocks by the local squire in the 19th Century.

Should you wish to promote this walk the A4 colour poster is available to download in pdf format, as is a monochrome flyer.

Finally, a credit to Linda Mellor‘s series of photographs of the destination which provide the backdrop to this month’s poster.
