To mark the opening of the new Forest Head Quarry trail, Janet Lambert, artist and landscape historian, will be hosting a walk through history on Saturday 17 September. This will provide an opportunity to learn about Forest Head Quarry, its geology and people, and hear the inside story behind her exhibition at Geltsdale Visitor Centre.
The route will follow a circular 5 mile trail from Clesketts car park to Forest Head Quarry; Gairs view point, Stagsike Cottages and back to Clesketts. At Stagsike Cottages participants will have the opportunity to view Janet’s exhibition and enjoy a cup of tea.
Participants are advised to wear stout footwear and suitable outdoor clothing. There is a small charge of £3 for RSPB adult members and £4 for adult non-members. £1.50 for child members and £2.00 for child non-members.
The event will meet at the visitor’s car park near Hallbankgate, grid ref: NY 588584 at 10:00am.
