A lovely 5-6 mile ramble along the beautiful South Tyne river on Sunday 12th March. We start at Coanwood where we join the disused railway line and walk along Lambley Viaduct, pausing to enjoy stunning views over the South Tyne before descending to cross the river again on the lower bridge. The path along the riverside takes in a possible coffee break at the poetic fishing hut and sightings of Oyster Catchers and other birds before entering the parkland near Featherstone Castle. After lunch our riverside path takes us through the old P.O.W. cam, offering a close view of the Castle before walking up the quiet road back to the cars.
Meet at 10.30am at the Brampton Moot Hall for car share to Coanwood. Bring a packed lunch and drink.
