Autumn 2017 – October 7th to 15th.
The festival will be opened by polar explorers Conrad and Hilary Dickinson, who are local residents. Some stalwarts will remember Conrad from the famous wet walk to Scotland a few years ago! Others of you will have seen Conrad in TV programmes documenting the expedition he led to the South Pole, with Prince Harry on the team. Conrad and Hilary will walk with us on the first day of the 30th festival.
Don’t miss Celebrating Northumberland, an evening of projected photographs of this wonderful county. This is a chance for walkers, volunteers and local people to get together. It’s on Wednesday 11th October and there will be drinks and nibbles.
Another celebration is in the form of a town walk and quiz. You will learn a lot about Haltwhistle during the walk and then have the chance to use this knowledge in a quiz at the Black Bull pub afterwards. A drink or two may be consumed to aid the little grey cells!
Our very popular Social Evening is on Friday 13th October. (We are not superstitious, so the date is not a problem!) A number of volunteers will share their talents during the evening and there will be the usual excellent buffet at the Comrades Club.
