Sunday 11th February.
The views on this walk will be worth the ups and downs (maximum 248 metres). This circular route from Blenkinsopp Castle takes in Walltown Crags, Thirlwall Castle and Greenhead, using open access fell as well as the traditional Hadrian’s Wall path.
Along the way you will have the opportunity to match the features you are seeing to the Ordnance Survey symbols on your (free) map sheet – a chance to ‘read’ the beautiful scenery around you.
Walking time is around 2 ½ hours over 6 miles. Some of the fell is a bit squelchy and there are stiles and cattle grids. If you wish to bring flask and snack, we’ll take a break at Walltown picnic area.
The walk finishes and starts in the car park behind the Blenkinsopp Castle Inn, where the smells of log fire and Sunday roast may well tempt you inside
Meet at 10.30am at Brampton Moot Hall for car share, or at the car park behind the Blenkinsopp Castle Inn about 10.50am.
