We assemble at the Moot Hall, 10.30 am on Sunday 11th March for car share to Tindale car park. We join the disused railway for a short distance and then a footpath, crossing the main road where we take a track up to Roachburn Farm. The history of the Roachburn mine is all around. After a possible stop for a break we cross the main road again and rejoin the old railway track. We will walk along this until we meet the track that leads to the RSPB area and Ravenscrag Quarry. There are spectacular views to be had overlooking the hills in the distance.
We return to Tindale along the old railway enjoying the views and mining history all around us.
Approx. 6 miles with some short uphill stretches and a section with some mud. Bring a warm drink and sandwiches.
There is the option of a stop afterwards at the community cafe – The Hub, Hallbankgate.
